600,000 unwanted CDs form an enormous art installation by England-based artist and sculptor Bruce Munro. Dubbed CDSea, the stunning 120sq.m (1,290sq.ft.) installation was constructed at Long Knoll near Wiltshire, England. With assistance from more than 140 volunteers and with unwanted CDs sent in from around the world, the artist and volunteers worked together to create what is described as « a glittering inland sea illuminated by natural light”.
The installation will remain for two months shining in the sun and moonlight. When it is finished the CDs will be gathered up and sent to a recycling plant.
